Addis Ababa, Aug 30 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of the Ministry of Irrigation and Lowlands of Ethiopia and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) today discussed ongoing projects in favor of the country's agricultural transformation.

Ethiopian sector head Abraham Belay and IFAD Associate Vice President Donald Brown, accompanied by high-ranking delegates, also discussed the successful completion of the first phase of the Lowland Livelihood Resilience Project (LLRP I).

Belay highlighted the recent accelerated progress of his ministry’s initiatives, as well as irrigation as a key entry point to boost agricultural activity.

For his part, Brown emphasized the importance of the partnership for ongoing projects and the completion of LLRP I, considered the largest in Africa and one of IFAD’s most effective collaborations for the benefit of Ethiopia’s marginalized regions.

He thanked the Ethiopian government for its transformative initiatives and recent economic reform policy, while expressing optimism about increased resource allocations to support current and future strategies, including those related to climate-resilient irrigation for sustainable and small-scale production.
