At the 31st meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination of Border Affairs, held in Beijing, the delegations from both nations agreed on the importance of restoring peace and tranquility, as well as respect for region normalization of bilateral relations, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The meeting was co-chaired by Gourangalal Das, joint secretary of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, and Hong Liang, director general of the Department of Border and Ocean Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The gathering took place in a frank, constructive and forward-looking exchange of views on the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
The conversation revolved around ways to reduce differences and find an early solution of outstanding issues.
The parties also agreed to intensify contact through diplomatic and military channels as agreed by Foreign Ministers Subrahmanyan Jaishankar and Wang Yi in bilateral meetings held in Astana and Vientiane.
As part of his visit in Beijing, the head of the Indian delegation also visited the vice minister of Foreign Affairs of China, the source said.
