On the occasion of the Day of Victims of Enforced Disappearances, the foreign minister stressed in X that the Cuban Revolution placed the rights to life and integrity of people at the center of its political system.
This date was commemorated for the first time in 2011, one year after the UN General Assembly established the day when it warned of an increase in involuntary disappearances in various regions of the world.
The forum was concerned about the increase in arrests, detentions and abductions as well as the number of reports of harassment, ill-treatment and intimidation of witnesses to disappearances or family members.
Hundreds of thousands of people have disappeared during conflicts or periods of repression in at least 85 countries on all continents.
