“We are inaugurating the Food Security Committee Monitoring Center to monitor the consumer price index and take immediate action to ensure fair prices for food and basic necessities,” Arce said on his social networks.
Located on the 3rd floor of the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance, in the heart of La Paz, the brand-new section will bring together experts from such ministries as the Productive Development and Plural Economy; the Rural Development and Lands; Defense, Justice and Development Planning.
Also represented is the Food Production Support Company (EMAPA), in charge of collecting and storing strategic grain reserves for livestock production in its silos.
This team monitors productivity, production, marketing, prices, and other issues related to strategic foods with modern computer technology.
These items include soybean, rice, sugar, chicken meat, and eggs, among others with a significant weigh on the daily consumption of Bolivians.
