Hungary rejects Ukrainian strikes using long-range weapons

Budapest, Aug 29 (Prensa Latina) Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó spoke out against the strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against Russia using long-range weapons supplied by Western countries and a further escalation of the conflict.

Szijjarto called on Facebook to put an end to this madness as soon as possible and to reject the supply of new weapons to Ukraine. “If even more weapons enter the conflict zone, if long-range weapons strike Russian territory, then the risk of escalation will only increase,” the Hungarian minister added.

The official indicated that he will defend the peacekeeping line launched by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at an informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Brussels.

On July 1st, the Presidency of the EU Council passed to Hungary for six months.

On July 2nd, Orban discussed the solution to the conflict in Ukraine with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

On July 6th, Orban visited Moscow, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, discussed possible ways to solve the conflict in Ukraine and the start of peace negotiations.

Later, the prime minister visited Beijing, where he met with the Chinese president, Xi Jinping.
