According to the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting the parties have verified compliance with the Memorandum of Understanding for the Exchange of Migration Alerts and Security Information as an effective instrument to achieve regular, orderly and safe migration. They also evaluated the state of the migratory flow between both countries and the crimes associated with it.
The Belizean delegation is headed by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration, Amalia Mai, while the Cuban delegation is chaired by Ana Teresita González Fraga, general director of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Living Abroad.
In the sidelines of the meeting, González Fraga met with a representation of Cuban health collaborators who provide their services in Belize.
The agenda of the Cuban delegation also includes a meeting with fellow citizens residing in Belize, as an expression of the strengthening of ties between Cuba and its emigrants.
