A total of 267 forest firefighters from the Joint Command of Response to Adverse Events are fighting the flames this Wednesday, said in a press round Vice-Minister of Civil Defense, Juan Carlos Calvimontes, from the new National Monitoring Center, in Santa Cruz territory.
Fires are now burning in Santa Ana de Velasco, San Rafaelito, El Sari, The Boca de Paucerna camping site, Monte Verde, Hacienda de Berlín and Guayaba.
Calvimontes added that as soon as forest fire is spotted first response teams rush to the place.
“So far, the Joint Command of Reaction to Adverse Events has put out 37 fires, mobilized 2,467 forest firefighters and 69 military units,” the vice minister indicated.
Bolivians are now pinning their hopes in a coordinated effort with Brazil to jointly fight the fires in border areas.
