On his X profile, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero expressed his deepest condolences and informed that he is closely following the condition of the injured workers, to whom he wished a speedy recovery.

Earlier, President Miguel Díaz-Canel also sent condolences to Narciso Sarría’s relatives.

According to one of the factory managers, Ernesto Gálvez, the incident occurred at 14:05 hours, local time, when a hopper of the electrofilter in oven three collapsed, causing a spill of hot material.

When the accident occurred, priority was given to safeguarding human lives, so they counted on the support of several entities that contributed to deal with the situation.

Gálvez denied information circulating in social networks about an alleged explosion in a boiler, and affirmed that this plant does not have that kind of equipment, since it operates with solid fuel.
