The day before, the armed group attacked the locality of Bahaha, about 45 kilometers northwest of Mombasa-centre, and set fire to several houses, motorcycles, a church and looted the recently renovated health unit, causing patients to flee and the population to be displaced.
According to witnesses, the assailants were dressed in cassocks and burst into the center of Bahaha while the inhabitants were still asleep, fired in all directions and spread panic among the population.
As a result, three civilians were killed and more than a dozen people were kidnapped.
The ADF, a group linked to the Islamic State, has left a trail of death in Ituri and more recently shifted its activities with greater force to North Kivu province, where its attacks left some 200 people killed in June and more than a hundred in July.
