The Indian Foreign Minister explained on his social networks that they reviewed bilateral ties, including cooperation in trade, defense, energy and biofuels, health care, sustainable agriculture, space, connectivity and technology.

Delegations from both countries also exchanged viewpoints on global geopolitical events and the shared concerns and aspirations of the Global South.

They also discussed the progress of India and Brazil’s participation in the BRICS, as well as in the dialogue that they established with South Africa, IBSA, the Group of 20 (G20) and the United Nations.

India has reiterated its ongoing support for the Brazilian presidency of the G20, Jaishankar said.

In his opening remarks, the Indian foreign minister congratulated Brazil for successfully holding the G20 meetings, and highlighted the progress and diversification of the strategic partnership established between the two nations in 2006.

He considered that the bilateral trade basket, which has generally increased in recent years, has not been excempt of challenges, it has been substantial, he added.

The Brazilian foreign minister, in turn, conveyed an invitation from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro next November.

He underlined the growing ties between the two nations, especially in cooperation on biofuels. Vieira noted that Brazil and India represent a positive push for international affairs. The diplomat emphasized that Brazil, as the G20 president this year, built on India’s successful experience in 2023, and paved the way to enhance the interests of the Global South and ensure its proactive participation in the economic agenda for the coming years.
