According to the president of Gaby’s Foundation, Gabriela Toribio, of the women supported by this association founded in 2022, only 10 percent benefit from personalized treatments because economic disparities have a significant influence.

Toribio said that “women with a therapy directed to the type of tumor and the stage of the disease will have a better prognosis for life, which can translate, she said, into lower rates of recurrence and tumor response, depending on the case”. She commented that there are stories of women attended by the Foundation who have had a significant improvement in their state of health and are going about their daily lives without drastic emotional and physical changes thanks to these methods.

However, she said that in order for these experiences to be replicated, it is necessary to guarantee equity in the access to state-of-the-art therapies.
