The initiative annuls passages of a provision that seeks to reduce the circulation of weapons and repeals provisions of the precept that regulates the Disarmament Statute (Law 10,826 of 2003).
The PDL eliminates from Decree 11,615 of 2023 the prohibition on sports shooting clubs being less than one kilometer away from educational institutions.
For Senator Vanderlan Cardoso, “the measure invades municipal jurisdiction and harms the legal security of already established entities, preventing the continuity of their activities, in addition to having no technical justification to improve public security.”
There are also changes regarding compressed gas or spring-action weapons.
Weapons with a caliber greater than six millimeters are for restricted use by the Armed Forces or by persons and institutions authorized by the Army, and require a registration certificate for a sports shooter who uses this type of weapon. This is removed from the decree.
The prohibition on using restricted firearms for activities other than those declared in the purchase is also withdrawn from the Government decree, which according to the senator prevents the transfer of weapons between gun collectors.
The bill also determines that historical weapons and those that are part of collections do not need to be declared by the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage.
