Syria receives new batch of medical aid from India

Damascus, Aug 26 (Presa Latina) The Syrian Ministry of Health announced that it had received a shipment of medicines for the treatment of cancer patients, provided by the Republic of India.

In statements to the press, the Deputy Minister of Health, Razan Saluta, explained that the medicines will be transported to the Ministry’s central warehouses, and will then be applied to cancer patients in oncology hospitals throughout the country.

This is not the first time that the Indian government has made a humanitarian gesture and provided medical assistance to Syrians in the midst of the difficult circumstances their country is going through due to the unjust economic blockade imposed, the Deputy Minister said.

She praised the good level of cooperation between Damascus and New Delhi in the health sector, both in the past and at present, which confirms the deep and strong relations between the two nations.

The Indian ambassador to Damascus, Irshad Ahmed, explained that the shipment includes medicines weighing 1,400 kilograms. He said that the current shipment is a gift from the Indian government and people to the Syrian people.

The diplomat highlighted the true friendship between the two countries and affirmed that India will maintain its support to Syria and hopes to participate in the reconstruction process.
