South Africa attends World Water Week conference

Pretoria, Aug 26 (Prensa Latina) South Africa participated in an international conference in Sweden on Monday on World Water Week, in which Deputy Water and Sanitation Minister David Mahlobo took part.

The Ministry informed in a press release that the event was held under the theme: “Bridging Borders: Water for a Peaceful and Sustainable Future,” and focused on global and regional water cooperation for peace and security.

As planned, Deputy Minister Mahlobo deliberated with his counterparts from around the world on issues such as unlocking finance for water security, innovative financing for transboundary cooperation, and African investment in infrastructure for socio-economic benefits.

The text stated that he also described how the South African water sector has improved cooperation in times of water shortage and detailed efforts at all levels of government to prevent serious water problems in communities.

World Water Week conference is organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) and is an inclusive meeting place to foster collaboration, inspire innovation, and accelerate action on water management, the Ministry noted.
