The spokesman was asked to comment on statements by Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, who said that the Russian leadership has decided to respond to Ukraine’s military incursion in Kursk, and noted that there will definitely be a response.
On August 6, a massive Ukrainian attack on that Russian region started, as a result of which a federal emergency regime is in force due to the missile threat. Residents of the border areas are being evacuated to safe territories.
According to the Russian Ministry of Emergencies, there are 197 temporary accommodation centers in 28 towns across the country with more than 11,500 people sheltered, including some 3,500 children.
The Russian Ministry of Defence noted that Ukraine has lost nearly 6,000 soldiers and 72 tanks in the Kursk operation since the beginning of hostilities.
