Ralph Gonsalves warns of US interest in Venezuela

Caracas, Aug 26 (Prensa Latina) Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, warned Monday that the US has an interest in owning Venezuela's natural resources, such as oil.

Addressing the 11th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), he pointed out that this is a stance not only against Venezuela but is something that has happened against other Latin American countries.

“It still remains for us to exorcise those forces of politics, those forces of the United States,” Gonsalves stressed.

The PM said that St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the CARICOM countries, see the United States as their friends, because the United States of America is a land of great achievements; however, they have an imperial blind spotlight that time and again shows this negative behavior in Latin America and the Caribbean that is inconsistent with their own ideals.

International law and reality and facts must be in favor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in any objective analysis.

He stressed that history has shown that the United States has no moral basis to teach us about elections or how governors should be determined by the people.

He emphasized that “the six Caribbean countries members of ALBA-TCP support Nicolas Maduro for his electoral triumph.

He invited the United States to cease harassment against Venezuela, Cuba and any other country that opposes imperialism.
