In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry announced the arrival of the first batch of 1.26 million doses and explained that 365,000 other doses will be sent in the coming hours.

The health institution stressed that it aims to administer, in the coastal enclave, two doses to 645,000 children aged under ten.

The first polio case was recently detected in Gaza in the last 25 years, which prompted an alert from several international institutions, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The Ministry reported that the campaign will begin through about 400 fixed and mobile vaccination centers in the coming days.

The health institution called on the United Nations and the international community to work to stop Israel’s war campaign in that territory to give the besieged population a break and facilitate the campaign.
