Aladi is the largest Latin American integration group, made up of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, in which more than 510 million inhabitants are represented.
The 1980 Treaty of Montevideo is the global legal framework establishing and regulating the association, to which Cuba adhered in 1999.
It establishes as general principles the pluralism in political and economic matters and the progressive convergence of partial actions towards the formation of a Latin American common market.
It also establishes flexibility, differential treatment based on the level of development of the member countries and the multiplicity of forms of commercial instruments.
On the occasion of a quarter of a century of its membership in the Association, Cuba heads the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Committee of Representatives.
Cuba assumed this responsibility in June and will exercise it until December.

Last October, the tenth edition of the macro business conference Expo ALADI 2023 took place in Havana, in spite of the blockade policy exercised by the United States against Cuba, which has an impact on states and businessmen interested in negotiating with Cuba.
