Brazil restricts entry of immigrant without visa as of today

Brasilia, Aug 26 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Justice and Public Security informed that passengers in transit arriving today in Brazil without a visa and whose final destination is another country will have to continue their trip or return to their place of origin.

“Passengers who, by chance, remain in the international transit zone of Guarulhos airport, in Sao Paulo, or in other airports with international connections, if they do not have a visa to enter Brazilian territory, will be rejected,” a statement from the Ministry says.

Such code foresees the non-requirement of visa for connection or stopover cases as long as the traveler remains in the international transit zone.

“The objective of the Brazilian legislation was to facilitate the procedure for stopovers or connections at airports, reducing bureaucratic procedures and speeding up the process of transfer and/or stopover of passengers between international segments,” the statement said.

It explains that passengers not admitted will not be deported, since Brazil is an intermediate country and not the final destination.
