Netanyahu must go, Lapid affirmed in an interview with The Times of Israel newspaper after pointing out that the right-wing politician was the leading responsible for the attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7, 2023.
“The only thing that he cares about is staying in power. He has been in power for too long,” the current opposition leader stressed.
Lapid, who was prime minister from June to December 2022, also criticized the ultra-right positions of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
He also questioned Netanyahu for putting his interests ahead of those of the nation.
Since the beginning of the war in Gaza, whenever he had to choose between politics and the greater good, he has chosen politics, he noted.
