The head of the government of Mexico City, Marti Batres; Cuban Ambassador Marcos Rodriguez Costa; and officials from the Cuban Embassy here attended the celebration in the building, at 16 Adolfo Lopez Mateos Bulevard, on Saturday.
Also present were artists, entrepreneurs, and friends in solidarity to inaugurate the institution that strengthens the historic ties between the two peoples.
Handed over to the Culture Ministry by this capital’s highest authorities in May 2024, the “Benny More” Cultural Center will be sponsored by the association presided over by Cuban writer and anthropologist Miguel Barnet, who will promote autochthonous educational and cultural values, in conjunction with renowned intellectuals from both nations.
The new institution will include an artistic and literary program that will showcase Cuban and Mexican music, handicrafts, plastic arts, cinema, theater, and dance through concerts, keynote speeches, colloquiums, exhibitions, and workshops on artistic creation.
