Argentine graduates in Cuba express solidarity with Caribbean island

Buenos Aires, Aug 25 (Prensa Latina) Members of the Argentine Association of Graduates in Cuba (AAGraCuba) expressed their gratitude and solidarity with the Caribbean nation, in a rally on the 14th anniversary of that organization and Fidel Castro’s 98th birthday (1926-2016).

At the Pepa Noia Cultural House, in this capital, members of the association, the Union of Cuban Residents in Argentina (URCA) and Cuban diplomats highlighted the ties between both peoples and the example of the historic leader of the Revolution.

They also commemorated the 64th anniversary of the Cuban Women’s Federation (FMC).

During the meeting, Paula Artesi, a graduate in Physical Culture and president of AAGraCuba, assured that those who are professionals today maintain the same spirit as when they were young people who had just graduated from Cuban universities, and urged to preserve joy and love, despite the difficult times we are going through.

We remember the Commander-in-Chief who shows us the way. Cuba is humanism and solidarity. We are proud to celebrate 14 years of a space that is constantly restructured. We were born when we were able to revalidate our degrees and today our colleagues hold important positions in different sectors, she indicated.

URCA representative Adonis Torres, in turn, noted the importance of celebrating such significant dates and asserted that the social and political work of the Revolution continues to be the most equitable project that has been developed at present.

In this regard, he praised the relevance of the programs implemented in Cuba to train young people from sister nations.

For her part, Nora Velasco, from the Union of Argentine Women Friends of Cuba, sent greetings to the FMC members and stated that Vilma Espín (1930-2007) is an example for the feminist movement and for those who defend childhood.

Cuban Ambassador Pedro Pablo Prada pointed out that the graduates in Cuba are a great family that brings together and unites, even during complex times.

We thank them for their permanent solidarity and support for our people, especially in the light of the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States and Cuba’s inclusion in Washington’s State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list, he said.

He urged them to be prepared to face attempts at cultural colonization of peoples and the rise of the extreme right wing and fascism.

As Fidel taught us, the words surrender and defeat do not exist for revolutionaries. We are all part of the generation of his centenary and we must fight for love, justice and truth to prevail, he added.

Cuba will always be your alma mater, where your teachers and the families who welcomed you are. That love persists and will always be there for you. I ask you to stay united even in the most challenging moments, the diplomat concluded.
