In addition to firefighters from several nearby municipalities, personnel from the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition are supporting the operations to extinguish the fire, the SGR indicated.
So far, there have been no reports of injuries or deaths as a result of the fire, which began last Friday. The burned area, so far, is native vegetation, including pine forests and grasslands, and there are also effects on local fauna.
Experts explained that at this time of year, the Andean and coastal towns are exposed to a larger threat due to high temperatures, low humidity in the environment, low cloud cover, and high wind speed and ultraviolet radiation.
In addition to environmental factors, there is human activity, which sometimes leads to disasters, firefighters warned.
