On X, the Cuban foreign minister recalled in a special way the struggle and leadership of the politician against the illegal occupation and the crimes committed by Israel against the people of his nation.
Yasser Arafat (Cairo, Egypt, August 24, 1929-Paris, France, November 11, 2004) was the first president of the Palestinian National Authority, and led the struggle to demand the right to self-determination for that people.
In 1994, Arafat received the Nobel Peace Prize for his participation in the negotiations held in Oslo, Norway, a year earlier, for the liberation of Palestine and to offer a permanent solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
His death, at 74 years old, occurred in a hospital near Paris, after two weeks fraught with mystery and suspicions of poisoning.
On January 11, 2013, Israeli President Shimon Peres admitted for the first time the Tel Aviv regime’s involvement in Arafat’s death.
