Venezuelan Prosecutor summons Edmundo González on contempt charges

Caracas, Aug 23 (Prensa Latina) The Attorney General of the Venezuelan Republic, Tarek William Saab, said today that former candidate of the extreme right, Edmundo González, will be summoned by the Public Prosecutor's Office in the next few hours, on charges of contempt.

González, Saab explained, should respond for usurping functions and spreading fraudulent electoral results, as well as incurring in disobedience and contempt.

The highest authority in the Public Prosecutor’s Office indicated that attending the summoning is mandatory, as contemplated by the law.

Likewise, Saab announced that the sentence issued by the highest judicial body will be included in the investigation carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office to determine responsibilities for usurpation of functions, forging of public documents, incitement to disobey laws, cybercrimes and criminal association and conspiracy.

The 58th National Prosecutor’s Office has been designated to investigate cybercrimes.
