“Founded by its eternal President, the beloved Vilma, together with #Fidel and thousands of women from all over the country, the FMC (Federation of Cuban Women) started 64 years ago a Revolution within the Revolution that does not stop,” the president wrote on X social media.
“It continues today with the National Program for the Advancement of Women. Happy day, comrades,” he added.
The FMC celebrates its 64th anniversary today with the aspiration of contributing to empowering women, safeguarding the Revolution, defending Socialism and promoting the sustainable prosperity of the nation.
According to its secretary general, Teresa Amarelle, the organization has carried out policies and programs to achieve the full exercise of women’s equality in every sphere and social level.
This August 23 we are celebrating, determined to overcome the obstacles imposed by the U.S. economic and financial blockade against Cuba, with great dedication and devotion to economic and social tasks, Amarelle recently told the press.
