Cuban Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso, joined veteran engraver Lesbia Vent Dumois in visiting the exhibit of cartoons by 16 artists, including the work by late Cuban paint master Rene Portocarrero.
Recalling UNEAC is celebrating the 63rd anniversary of its creation, Vent Dumois stressed the importance of continuing to join forces in support of the definitive liberation of the Palestinian land, something that cannot be achieved with speeches, in the words of some participants.
Under the title “Here we are,” which relates to UNEAC’s anniversary, the cartoon display showcases the struggle of the Palestinian stressing a humoresque touch as a form of political protest.
As part of celebrations, UNEAC recently presented the Dulce Maria Loynaz Award to the Nigerian writer Wole Soyinka, Nobel Prize of Literature 1986.
