The meeting, held on August 20-21, brought the foreign ministers of both countries to the negotiating table to analyze the peace agreement proposal presented by Angolan President João Lourenço as a mediator appointed by the African Union (AU).
The two parties decided to address specific aspects of the peace proposal at a Meeting of Experts on August 29-30, while a 4th ministerial dialogue will take place also in Luanda on September 9-10.
The meeting was held in a “serene and fraternal atmosphere,” and the parties reaffirmed their commitment to work together to find a lasting solution to the conflict in eastern DRC.
Therese Kayikwamba Wagner, Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Francophonie, and Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe, Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, led the delegations.
