Marranzini asked Dominican citizens to be patient in the face of the blackouts that, he said, would continue to occur in the country and explained that many of the power cuts in the last few days were due to the increased use of equipment owing to high temperatures, local media reported.
The CUED director told Diario Libre, Listin Diario, and Noticias SIN that there are electrical substations that date back to the 1970s, and due to their age, they cannot provide the energy needed to meet people’s needs.
More than the plan for the modernization and efficiency of the electricity distribution sector presented by Marranzini at the American Chamber of Commerce, the media report that the general public is more concern over the power cuts announced when it is facing almost 40-degree heat.
