Panamanian President discusses social security measures with unions

Panama City, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) The President of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, will discuss today with representatives of labor unions the measures he plans to adopt to face the structural and financial crisis that the Social Security Fund (CSS) is going through.

According to the official announcement, the President will receive delegates from the National Confederation of Independent Trade Union Unity (Conusi) and the National Confederation of Organized Workers (Conato) at the Palacio de las Garzas (seat of the Executive).

Earlier, the Head of State discussed the same issue, which he considered a priority for his administration this year, with the heads of the political parties and then with members of the private business sector that make up the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama.

Recently, Conusi and Conato issued a statement in which they advocate for a national dialogue on the CSS, the only public entity that serves retirees and pensioners.

This social debate, they emphasized, must be democratic, proactive and transparent, placing the welfare of the people and the national interest at the center, with special attention to the most vulnerable groups.
