Addressing delegates, including African dignitaries, Dhankar said the link could prove beneficial in areas such as clean technology, climate resilient agriculture, maritime security, connectivity and the blue economy.
On the theme of the Creating One Future event, the vice president emphasized the need to join forces for a common future for the well-being of all, with public participation as a hallmark.
“Creating One Future is essential for the sustainability of humanity, and this challenge can no longer be delayed,” he said.
He also called for unity in tackling climate change, which he described as a ticking time bomb as it is, he said, the greatest threat to the planet.
Dhankar also stressed the need for massive participation and optimal utilization of natural resources.
On the other hand, he highlighted the deep ties between India and Africa “forged by shared histories, common struggles and mutual aspirations for a just and progressive future,” he said.
India invested more than US$12.37 billion in 206 infrastructure projects in 43 African countries, with a positive impact on the societies of those nations, he said.
