Speaking to local TV, Gonçalves indicated that by next Monday a Turkish electric barge now in Ecuador could start providing some relief, while the Government seeks to hire new floating power plants to cope with the energy crisis.
The floating power plants could provide a total of 700 megawatts (MW). The bidding process to acquire their services will last from 30 to 35 days, he said.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General’s Office here told former Minister of Energy and Mines, Roberto Luque that an investigation is to begin on the hiring process of a Turkish electric barge which is already in national territory.
The judicial institution wants to unveil alleged official influence peddling in the contracting process of Turkish barges.
