At the meeting, Gonzalez and Rathnamudali discussed the upcoming Asia-Pacific regional meeting in Beijing in October and other association activities, diplomatic sources reported.
An estimated 100 Sri Lankan professionals have graduated from Cuban institutions and six young people from the South Asian island are currently studying at the Havana-based Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM).
In May, Ambassador Gonzalez met with young Sri Lankan student Halneththi Dushani Gunarathne, who was selected to study medicine in Cuba.
Attending the meeting were the young woman’s father; Chiththadhamma Rathnamudali, President of the Graduates Association; Vice President Asitha Dias; and Maribel Duarte, First Secretary of the Cuban Mission in Colombo.
