Experts and officials from the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration recently inspected screening measures at the air terminal to prevent the internal spread of the disease declared an emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization (WHO), according to a report by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
They checked on the ground the procedures for detecting symptoms of the disease and urged health workers to speed up the process and ensure that no passenger from abroad goes unnoticed.
Praising the work of the health team, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Irfan Nawaz Memon directed immediate admission to PIMS Hospital for people showing any symptoms of monkeypox for proper care.
He said the facility is prepared to handle the situation, with special arrangements made to isolate and treat the affected patients.
