Health Minister Roger Kamba told Le Phare newspaper that his country needs 3.5 million vaccine doses, worth 600 million dollars, to protect people in the country’s 26 provinces.
Kamba expressed at a press release on Monday that the arrival of these doses involves a whole logistical chain, from reception to a series of administrative procedures before shipment.
He added that there is a national vaccination plan in place so that as soon as the doses arrive, they will be immediately administered to the population.
Since early 2024, the country has reported 16,700 Mpox cases and around 570 deaths, the most affected were children under 15 years of age.
