Authorities of the Instituto de Previsión Social (IPS) and Paraguayan anesthesiologists reached an agreement today on labor benefits, avoiding a strike announced for Wednesday.
The results of the negotiation include that the physicians will benefit with 12 working hours per week, equal to what was recently obtained by their peers in other specialties.
In the last few weeks, specialties such as pediatrics and oncology had announced a strike due to the clear imposition of excessive working hours, which endangered the effective care of patients.
