Representatives of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom), which organizes the expedition, said at a press conference that participants in the journey placed the flags of their countries on the northern peak of planet Earth.
The group is composed of 63 students, including 10 participants from several countries where Rosatom develops nuclear technologies (Armenia, Belarus, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan and South Africa).
Together with them, 15 experts selected during the celebration of the World Youth Festival, which was held in the federal territory of Sirius, Sochi, in March of this year, traveled to the North Pole, including representatives from Bangladesh, Belarus , Iraq, Cameroon, Tunisia and Uzbekistan.
The fifth Icebreaker of Knowledge Arctic expedition coincides with the 65th anniversary of the nuclear icebreaker fleet and the Znanie society (knowledge, in Russian), the press release from Rosatom noted.
