In a press conference at the parliamentary headquarters, Manini listed a dozen measures to be applied during the emergency at a time when insecurity is the greatest concern of the citizens, according to surveys.
He urged not to wait until March 1, 2025 for the government that wins the next elections to take office.
He pointed out that according to calculations, there will be 200 new homicides in the country by then.
He expressed the need for a “frontal fight against crime” and criticized that “it is necessary to fully exercise authority” by the Police. For the senator from the Cabildo, the Armed Forces should complement the Police in the fight against crime.
He called for the execution of “intensive operations in the metropolitan area” and “massive night operations.” “There are areas with high insecurity for the population,” he claimed.
He also proposed creating a “border shield” against organized crime and high-impact operations to dismantle drug trafficking networks.
The establishment of safe corridors and control points on routes and strategic areas, advanced intelligence actions and the activation of emergency funds for public security are among his proposals.
He also spoke in favor of the transfer and confinement of “dangerous criminals” in conditions of maximum security.
