Friends of Venezuela in Ethiopia voice support for Maduro’s victory (+Photos)

Addis Ababa, Aug 18 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopians who graduated in Venezuela and Cuba, as well as embassy staff from the Island country and Nicaragua, reportedly rejected here the international campaign against the victory of President Nicolás Maduro at polls.

Joining hands with the initiative For peace and against fascism called by Caracas, the Cuban chargé d’affaires Zael Fernández, recalled how Maduro had come out winner in the elections held on July 28 and the subsequent mobilization by the Venezuelan extreme right to ignore the results.

Fernández mentioned the cyberattack against the National Electoral Council (CNE), which hindered the counting of votes, as well as calls by the opposition’s candidate Edmundo González and disqualified ex candidate María Corina Machado on their followers to resort to vandalism (guarimbas), in an attempt to sow chaos in Venezuela.

The opposition’s moves, Fernández said, led to committing arson in schools, community health centers and local businesses, as well as faking death of opponents at the hands of the Bolivarian National Guard. The false nature of such deaths, he added, was demonstrated by videos on social media showing how the alleged victims would eventually rose on their feet.

As he slammed the campaign promoted by the international hegemonic media in a bid to discredit Maduro’s electoral victory, the Cuban diplomat urged those attending the gathering to stay informed and spread the truth in their environment.

For his part, the designated ambassador of Nicaragua in Ethiopia, Ali Waters, said that his country was one of the first to congratulate the Venezuelan president for his re-election for a new 2025-2031 term, and expounded on sanctions imposed by the United States government during the 25 years of Bolivarian Revolution.

Waters commented that Managua is fully aware of this modus operandi, also applied against his country and the Sandinista Revolution led by President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, hence he expressed his solidarity and support for Venezuela.
