After intense days of work, a group called Caricom Eminent Personalities ended their visit here, where they also learned about the fight against violence and the political transition.
This team exchanged ideas with the Multinational Security Support Mission’s Commander, Godfrey Otunge.
The meeting addressed the challenges and problems that must be solved to allow other contributing countries to send their personnel to Haiti to fight the gangs and reduce the rates of violence, Haiti Libre reported.
The visit to Haiti also led to the idea of Caricom supervising the general elections. Interim Prime Minister Garry Conille welcomed the initiative.
The Eminent Personalities have been here since August 10 to oversee progress in setting up the bodies to carry forward the process of change, commented the president of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), Edgard Leblanc.
