He called on Tel Aviv to put an end to settler violence and called for concrete measures to ensure full accountability for all those involved.
For its part, the UN Human Rights Office called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice to deter future attacks.
The spokeswoman for that body, Ravina Shamdasani, assured that the assassination was not an isolated attack, but part of Israel’s occupation policy.
“For the past few years we have been reporting on settler attacks on Palestinian communities on their land in the West Bank with impunity and this is really the core of the issue, the impunity that the perpetrators of such actions have enjoyed,” she warned.
The human rights body considered the investigations into these events to be insufficient, which most of the time do not result in justice for the victims and perpetrators.
