The initiative “Resilient and Biodiverse Landscapes of Northern Mesoamerica project” will benefit residents in the district of Metapan, in Santa Ana Norte and is supported by the Government of the United Kingdom through the Biodiverse Landscapes Fund (BLF).
The launch was attended by the Vice President of El Salvador, Félix Ulloa, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, David Lelliott, and Mayor Carlos Landaverde.
Trifinio is the name given to the meeting point of the borders of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras and the project will also be implemented in the Mayan jungles shared by Guatemala and Belize, and in the Mosquita region of Honduras.
The project’s ultimate goal is to contribute to the physical, social and economic integration and development of the border regions of the three countries by supporting agriculture, forestry, infrastructure and environmental conservation.
