The measures include strengthening and implementing specific risk communication strategies and intensifying public health surveillance for exanthematous diseases, known as rash. The health institution informed that the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is collaborating to ensure the availability of vaccines under a specific plan and strengthen capacities for the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of this disease.
The Ministry also added that the National Institute of Health (INS) will continue to strengthen the laboratory and genomic surveillance of Mpox.
Given the emergency, Health and Social Protection Minister Guillermo Jaramillo stated that Colombia is committed to surveilling and controlling Mpox and applying international recommendations to protect the health of all our citizens.
