Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son sent a message of regret to his DPRK counterpart, Choe Son Hui, and the citizens affected by these phenomena, which have severely damaged properties and crops, particularly in North Pyongan Province.

According to press reports, the heavy rains in the DPRK’s northwestern region and the resulting floods forced to evacuation of thousands of people by military boats and helicopters, especially in North Pyongan and Jagang provinces.

The floods destroyed totally or partially some 5,000 houses and damaged public buildings, roads, railways, and other infrastructure, besides inundating large areas of agricultural land.
