Speaking to the governmental session, Mikati called on the international community to take action and stop the Israeli genocide, as he denounced the attack on Al-Tabein school, which killed more than 100 Palestinians. Mikati said it is high time to put an end to the war after more than 10 months of Israeli brutality unleashed on Lebanon and Gaza, where a heavy price has been paid in the lives of our youth, the destruction of cities, and the economy.
He reiterated Lebanon’s clear position in adhering to UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and making its provisions mandatory for all while insisting that Lebanon resorts to all of its capabilities to protect the country, condemn Israel’s criminal actions, and call for peace.
Mikati indicated that Israel’s criminal actions leave no room for mediating initiatives to prosper.
Aware of current tensions and after almost two years of power vacuum, the Prime Minister called for accelerating the presidential election, to complete the establishment of constitutional institutions.
Accordingly, he voiced support for a fresh round of talks and understanding, leading to a prompt and general consensus on the election of the next head of state.
