The summit, whose general theme is “An Empowered Global South for a Sustainable Future”, will provide the opportunity to resume discussions from previous meetings on the complex challenges affecting the world, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry.
The source referred to conflicts, food and energy security crises, and climate change, all of which disproportionately and severely impact developing nations.
During the Summit, the countries of the Global South will also continue deliberations regarding their priorities and solutions, particularly in the area of development.
Just like the previous two summits, the current event is structured around a session of heads of ministries and officials.
India hosted the first and second summits, which were held on January 12th and 13th, and November 17th, 2023, in which representatives from more than 100 countries participated
The contributions of the leaders of developing nations were reflected in the agenda and debates and in the final declaration of the G20 Summit under the India’s Presidency last year.
