Damascus, Aug 15 (Prensa Latina) Calm returned today to the northeastern Syrian provinces of Hasakeh and Deir Ezzor after the successful mediation of the commander of the Russian forces operating in Syria, Andrei Serdyakov, between the government and the separatist militia.

According to local authorities, the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which are supported by the United States, ended their seven-day siege of the Syrian army-held city centers of Hasakeh and Qamishli.

The governor of Hasakeh, Louay Sayouh, told the press that all roads that were blocked by SDF gunmen were opened and water, fuel, flour and food were allowed into the central neighborhoods of the two cities.

The situation has returned to normal as it was before, thanks to the Russian initiative that managed to put an end to the existing tension, said the high official.

Meanwhile, a relative calm was recorded in northern Deir Ezzor which witnessed violent clashes between the tribal forces and the SDF.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) which are supported by U.S. units illegally present in the northeast of this Arab nation, intensified their hostilities with the backing of the Pentagon military, following an offensive launched by the Arab tribal forces in which they expelled the SDF irregulars from several localities in the northeast of Deir Ezzor.

The Foreign Ministry repeatedly condemned the illegal presence of US forces in the national territory and demanded their immediate and unconditional withdrawal, and demanded that they cease their support for SDF irregulars who assault civilians and their properties.
