According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian, the NED falsely presents itself under the banner of ‘promoting democracy and human rights’.
The diplomat denounced the participation of this foundation in a series of subversive actions that include the orchestration of color revolutions, incitement to confrontation between nations, fabrication of false information and the use of ‘academic activities’ as a means of intervention and infiltration.
The spokesman referred to the report ‘The Actions and True Nature of the National Endowment for Democracy of the United States’, recently published by China’s Foreign Ministry.
The text details how the NED extended its influence to China by supporting separatist movements in Taiwan and promoting activities to undermine political security and social stability in Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Tibet.
These actions ‘constitute a serious threat to the sovereignty and development interests of the countries involved, violate international law and the fundamental norms of international relations, and undermine global peace and stability,’ the spokesman added.
Lin called NED’s activities contrary to the principles of justice and equity.
