Park assured in an interview with Radio Pakistan that there is great interest on the part of the South Korean business community in investing in Pakistan, taking advantage of the young, qualified Pakistani workforce.
The diplomat said that it is possible to follow the CPEC model to improve cooperation between the two nations in multiple sectors such as energy and infrastructure.
Park Ki Jun also emphasized the need to raise bilateral trade to a higher level, since according to him the current one is much lower than the existing potential.
The diplomat explained that the trade volume was 1.2 billion dollars last year and that it is necessary to improve it. He went on to point out that Pakistan has rich natural resources and a vibrant human resource, while the Republic of Korea is a leader in advanced technology and economic growth.
The ambassador confirmed the need to work together to improve relations between their people, and stated that the Republic of Korea has a special passion for Pakistan’s cultural heritage, especially the Gandhara civilization.
Park also reported that next October Islamabad will organize a week-long Korea-Pakistan gala in which officials, businessmen and artists from the two nations are expected to participate.
