According to the Russian space entity’s statement, published Tuesday on its official Telegram page, when the undocking signal is given, the Progress MS-26 will start its engines to slow its descent to Earth.
The maneuver will last over three minutes kicking off the exit from orbit. Half an hour later the cargo ship will enter the Earth’s atmosphere where it will disintegrate.
The fragments of the cargo ship will fall someplace in the Pacific Ocean where ships do not sail, approximately 2,330 kilometers from New Zealand and 7,670 kilometers from the coast of Chile.
The Progress MS-26 was launched on February 15, 2024, from the Baikonur space base and docked with the ISS two days later, on February 17.
The spacecraft transported food, water, fuel, medicine, clothing, and equipment for scientific experiments, especially for growing fullerite crystals and other research work, to the orbital platform
Six times the cosmonauts used the Progress MS-26 engines to correct the orbit of the ISS, Roscosmos information added.
